TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) has developed a new product of CGA series multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCC) suitable for automotive applications, realizing world-class capacitors*, The 2012 specification (2.0 x 1.25 x 1.25 mm) capacitor is 22μF, and the 3216 specification (3.2 x 1.6 x 1.6 mm) capacitor is 47μF. The product has been mass-produced in September 2020.

In terms of improving safety, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are becoming more and more important. At the same time, more and more functions to support autonomous driving have also been established. Therefore, ICs that control these characteristics are constantly providing more functions, and more and more smooth decoupling MLCCs are used to suppress noise. From the perspective of space-saving substrate design, the demand for miniaturized, high-capacitance MLCCs will continue to increase.

Compared with our traditional products, the new product has a smaller size and higher capacitance, which can reduce the number of MLCC components and realize a space-saving design. In the future, TDK will continue to expand its product range to provide services for the growing range of automotive applications.
