Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commercialized the KCM series of automotive multilayer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals with temperature-compensated C0G characteristics and the KRM series of general-purpose multilayer ceramic capacitors with metal terminals. Our main goal is to use it for wireless power transmission (WPT) for electric vehicles and industrial equipment.*1) The LC resonance circuit of the system, etc. The product will begin mass production in August 2019.

Wireless power transmission (WPT) technology has also been developed and put into practical use in the fields of electric vehicles and industrial automatic pallets. In these fields, people are concerned about wireless power supply using magnetic resonance, because its transmission efficiency is not easy to decrease as the distance becomes longer. In the magnetic resonance method, capacitors are inserted on the power supply side and the power reception side to form an LC resonance circuit. Since large power from several kilowatts to more than ten kilowatts is applied to the resonant capacitor, it must have low loss and low heat generation characteristics, and the change in capacitance with temperature and voltage must be small.
The metal terminal type multilayer ceramic capacitor with C0G characteristics developed this time uses a ceramic material with low loss characteristics, the capacitance changes little with temperature or voltage application, and the metal terminals also use low loss Material, most suitable for resonant capacitor.
