MAX25430 greatly reduces the design size by 40%, and does not require a microcontroller, metal casing and heat sink, and the cost is 25% lower than competing solutions

Beijing, China—October 14, 2020—Maxim Integrated Products, Inc (NASDAQ: MXIM) announced the launchMAX25430 The 100W USB power supply (PD) boost/buck controller and protector provide the industry's smallest size and lowest cost solution for car chargers. As the most integrated solution in the industry, the MAX25430 significantly reduces the design size by 40% compared with competing solutions, and provides the industry's lowest cost, helping to increase the number of USB PD ports in the vehicle.

As more and more USB PD chargers are integrated into passenger cars, the functions of multimedia hubs for automotive applications (including rear entertainment modules and wireless audio units) are also expanding. And size, cost and power become the constraints of system design-the introduction of MAX25430 helps to solve the above problems.

CONN cable power supply, buck-boost controller and protection circuit; due to the omission of the heat sink and metal casing, compared with the multi-IC design, this solution will further reduce the size by 40% and the BOM cost by 25%. In addition, compared with other competing solutions for in-vehicle USB PD, the MAX25430 has a temperature reduction of 20 degrees Celsius (°C) under full power operating conditions. No matter how many ports are supported, only one microcontroller is needed, while competing solutions require an additional MCU for each port.

As a complete solution, Maxim Integrated also provides MAX25410 Car USB PD port protector and MAX2543140V H-bridge buck-boost controller to meet various USB charging design requirements.

Main advantage

  • smallest size:Integrated TCPC power regulator, VCONN cable power supply, buck-boost controller and protector, greatly reducing the size of the solution by 40%
  • Lowest cost:Eliminates the need for radiators, metal casings and multiple microcontrollers, which can save 25% of the cost
  • Power performance: Reliable work in harsh automotive environment, operating temperature is 20°C lower than the closest competitive solution
