Based on Intel’s Xeon D-2146NT 8 core 16 thread processor is the SYS-5019D-FN8TP rackmount server that, into a 1U high chassis, squeezes two 2.5in or four 2.5in drivesand up to 512Gbyte of ECC LRDIMM memory or up to 256Gbyte RDIMM DDR4-2666MHz in 4 DIM slots.
Interfaces include 4x 1Gbit Ethernet, 2x 10GBase-T and 2x 10G SFP+.
Potential uses include as a network security appliance, vCPE controller box, NFV edge computing server or virtualisation server, Supermicro told Electronics Weekly.
For IoT gateway use in smart factories and smart buildings, the firm is offering the fan-less E100-9AP-IA PC which houses an Intel E3940 Atom and supports one 2.5in SATA SSD, one full sized Mini-PCIe and M.2. Interfaces include dual Gbit Ethernet.
Operation is over -20 to 60°C and 9-36Vdc input supply – a 12V 60W power adaptor is available.
Industrial and machine automation applications are foreseen, according to the firm.
For those requiring a very large amount of fast memory in a rack – and a lot of processing, Supermicro is claiming a record, having squeezed 20 NVMe SSDs hot-swappable 2.5in 7mm slots into a 1U chassis.
And there is up to 3Tbyte of ECC 3DS LRDIMM (and other memory options) in 24DIMM slots
Processing comes from a LGA 3647 Xeon processor, and power is 1,600W from redundant ‘Titanium’ (96% efficient) supplies.
Called the SYS-1029UZ-TN20R25M, virtualisation, cloud computing, enterprise serving and software-defined storage are potential applications.
“Leveraging its expertise in server technology, Supermicro is introducing a full line of solutions that support D-2100 SoC processors – codenamed Skylake-D – with up to 1.6x compute performance improvement compared to the last generation.” said the firm.
